- This evening is rooted in classic country such as honky tonk and western swing with a sprinkle of waltz, polka and the occasional cha cha. Dance and Lesson Description: No partner or experience necessary. This is a beginner level class where we rotate partners. An emerging stye of Two-step, which we call Honky Tonk Two-step, differs from traditional Texas Two-Step as it does not travel around the room. Honky Tonk Two-step has evolved to fit crowded venues where people want to dance, but without a ton of space or control over traffic laws that traveling dances rely on. The style of Honky Tonk Two-step has rooted itself in cities such as Austin, Nashville, Knoxville, Seattle to name a few. The Portland honky tonk two-step dance community has been steadily growing since 2017.
